Overview

Mercer County Mosquito Control (MCMC) has been in operation for over 80 years in order to protect the residents of the county from both nuisance levels of mosquitoes and diseases that may be transmitted by them.

We realize that it is nearly impossible to eliminate all mosquitoes. As a result, we employ an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) that keeps mosquito populations at tolerable levels. Our approach concentrates on surveillance, water management, education and control of mosquitoes using safe integrated management with minimal impact on the environment.

Organization

MCMC is an operational unit within the Division of Highways under the jurisdiction of the Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOT& I). MCMC employs 11 full-time staff members on a year-round basis to address mosquito-related issues. The agency is composed of six Inspectors, three Senior Inspectors and two Supervisors who oversee the day-to-day operations.
