Hamilton Township Signalized Improvements
PHASE: Construction Completed
PURPOSE AND NEED: Construct signal upgrade improvements to three intersections in Hamilton Township that experience heavy pedestrian traffic from nearby schools. Signals will be improved and an enhanced ‘fisheye’ camera detection system will be installed at each signal. This will allow for detection of the presence of vehicles and/or pedestrians at all approaches. The detection system along with improved signal timings will allow for a more efficient allocation of ‘green time’ for all drivers and vulnerable road users.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The work to be performed under this contract consists of traffic signal upgrades to three intersections including associated sidewalk, curb, pavement striping and traffic marking improvements. All lane designations will remain the same after completion of the project.
The list of intersections included in this project are as follows:
1. Hamilton Avenue (CR 606) and Klockner Road.
2. Hamilton Avenue and Cypress Lane/Donald Drive.
3. CR 524 (S. Broad Street) and Highland Avenue.
This project is being funded through the Fiscal Year 2020 New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Annual Transportation Program (ATP) and administered by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Division of Local Aid and Economic Development.
