Council on Aging
The Mercer County Council on Aging acts in an advisory capacity to the Mercer County Office on Aging. The council advises the office on the development and administration of the area plan; conducts public hearings; represents the interests of older adults; reviews and comments on all community policies, programs, and actions that affect older adults and their caregivers; and serves as advocates for area plan programs and services.
The Mercer County Council on Aging is comprised of representatives from several townships in the county. The members provide insight regarding the needs of Mercer County older adults and assist in the planning and development of senior programming. Council members will display concern and commitment to older adults, participate in some capacity with older adults, be a consumer of services, be a business owner that serves older adults and/or be 60 years and older. Note that at least 50% of the membership must be consumers of Area Plan services.
