The 2025-2026 LIHEAP season begins October 1, 2025 and ends on June 30, 2026.
2025-2026 Energy Assistance Season Updates
The County of Mercer will be accepting applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) beginning on October 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 (as funding is available). Residents who pay their own heating costs, and meet the income guidelines, may be eligible to receive financial assistance with their winter heating bill. Residents with medical conditions may also be eligible to receive cooling assistance.

1. It is highly recommended you complete your application online: https://dcaid.dca.nj.gov
2. Please contact us via e-mail at: housing@mercercounty.org
3. In-Person at: 640 South Broad St., Trenton, NJ, 08611(appointments are not required at this time but may be subject to change at any time)
4. Schedule an appointment with Mercer County LIHEAP by calling the appointment hotline at (609) 337-0933 or by e-mailing housing@mercercounty.org.

*Application Status updates will not be available until late December when the first round of benefits are released.
Office hours are as follows:
Monday through Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm. *Please arrive by 3:30pm.
The office is closed daily 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. *Please arrive by 11:30.
Closed the following Holidays: Oct. 13th, Nov. 4th, 11th, 27th & 28th, Dec. 25th, and Jan. 1st.
The County reserves the right to close when the office reaches capacity.

HOME Housing Production Program
The HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) under the HOME Investment Partnership Act was enacted as part of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act of 1990. This Act created a funding source available for affordable housing programs. The funds are distributed on a formula basis, and are geared toward low and very low-income households. The purpose of the HOME Program is to expand the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing, strengthen the abilities of state and local governments to provide housing. The HOME is administered by the Mercer County Housing and Community Development office, and has been in existence since 1992. The following County programs are funded by HOME:
