Mercer County Cultural & Heritage Commission

Mercer County Cultural & Heritage Commission

Our cultural resources enrich our lives on a daily basis. Mercer County knows this and has supported the growth of its Art and History Communities for almost 50 years.

The Mercer County Board of Commissioners created the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission on March 17, 1970 to serve as an Advisory Board to the Division of Culture and Heritage. The statutes enabled the Division, with the Commission's input, to develop county programs to promote public interest in local and county history, in the visual and performing arts, and in the cultural values, goals and traditions of the community.

The Commission is composed of up to nine volunteer citizens appointed for five-year terms by the County Executive. The Commission and the Division share in the responsibility of reviewing and making funding decisions on the Mercer County Local Arts Program (LAP) Regrants and the Mercer County History Regrants.
