Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service of Mercer County, Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS), in collaboration with the Hunterdon & Mercer Regional Chronic Disease Coalition is offering a six-week FREE workshop titled Cancer: Thriving & Surviving. The series runs from Oct. 25-Nov. 29 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Healthy Living Center at the Hamilton Area YMCA: 1315 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton.

Mercer County’s nonprofit arts and culture industry generates significant economic impact, study shows
Mercer County recently partnered with Americans for the Arts to conduct a survey of its nonprofit arts and culture industry. Results show that Mercer County nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences spent $40,809,095 during fiscal year 2015 (national median is $35,750,645).

Howell Living History Farm will hold its annual Plowing Match on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A dozen teams of draft animals are entered in the match, which tests the performance of farmers, their horses and oxen.

The Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will start the replacement of the bridge on Cranbury Road (CR 615) over Bear Brook in West Windsor Township on Monday, Aug. 21. This project is to be completed in 270 calendar days, weather permitting.

Howell Living History Farm invites the public to celebrate the coming harvest season Saturday, Aug. 19, by unearthing a special crop of potatoes that will be donated to the Greater Mercer Food Cooperative. The potatoes were planted April 22 by Howell Farm visitors, volunteers and interns.
