Freeholders recognize 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland

The Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognized the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland at their Agenda Meeting on Tuesday, April 26.

The Easter Rising was an armed rebellion against British rule on the island of Ireland that took place April 24 through 29, 1916. The Rising is largely viewed as the spark that led to the Irish War of Independence and the creation of the Republic of Ireland in 1922.

The Board celebrated Irish culture with the music stylings Irish Musician and Singer Bill O’Neal and presented the National Director of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians Sean Pender with a Resolution commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising.
