Mercer County Mosquito Control (MCMC) has been in operation for over 80 years in order to protect the residents of the county from nuisance levels of mosquitoes, and diseases that may be transmitted by them.
We realize that it is nearly impossible to eliminate all mosquitoes, as a result, we employ an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) that keeps mosquito populations at tolerable levels. Our approach concentrates on surveillance, water management and prevention, education, and control of mosquitoes using safe integrated management with minimal impact on the environment.
Here you will find information on our operating philosophy and approach, general information on the insecticides that we use, homeowner information, an inspection request page, links to other related web sites and information on West Nile virus. MCMC personnel have been conducting surveillance and control measures long before the recent introduction of West Nile virus, and will continue to provide professional services for many years to come.
MCMC is an operational unit within the Division of Highways under the jurisdiction of the Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTO & I). MCMC employs 10 full time staff members on a year-round basis to address mosquito related issues. The agency is comprised of a Biologist, a Wetland Specialist, and a Mosquito Extermination Supervisor who oversees the operations of seven Senior Mosquito Inspectors.
