Mercer is Emergency Ready!
County Public Health Preps Shelter Supplies
It's National Emergency Preparedness Month, and Mercer County Division of Public Health staff members and Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers were at the Dempster Fire Training Center in Lawrence on Sept. 15 to organize supplies in Mercer LINCS’ three trailers, preparing them for deployment to a shelter or point of distribution (POD) site in the event of an emergency. Mercer LINCS had purchased load bars, ratchets and bungee cords to help secure the medical equipment and other supplies inside the trailers. Working hard were Division of Public Health staffers Darlene Andes, John Arulmohan and Heather DeLorenzo, and MRC volunteer Kathy DiGaetano. MRC volunteers supplement existing emergency and public health resources in preparing for and responding to emergencies at the local level.
