Battling Cancer? Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service of Mercer County, Department of Family and Community Health Sciences in collaboration with the Hunterdon & Mercer Regional Chronic Disease Coalition offers FREE 6-week series

 Cancer: Thriving & Surviving

 For individuals living with or survivors of cancer

October 25-November 29, 2017

Lawrenceville, NJ. - Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service of Mercer County, Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS), in collaboration with the Hunterdon & Mercer Regional Chronic Disease Coalition is offering a six-week FREE workshop titled Cancer: Thriving & Surviving. The series runs from Oct. 25-Nov. 29 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Healthy Living Center at the Hamilton Area YMCA: 1315 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton.

Adults of all ages, who are living with or surviving cancer, are encouraged to take part in this series. Using a variety of fun and interactive techniques such as brainstorming, problem solving and action planning, participants will learn to better manage their symptoms, emotions and relationships; make treatment decisions; and plan for the future. Participants will learn how healthy eating, fitness, deep breathing, relaxation, communication and positive thinking can improve their quality of life. Participants will receive a free book Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions. Light refreshments will be served.

The workshops will be facilitated by trained peer leaders Michelle Brill, MPH, Family & Community Health Sciences Educator, Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County and Amanda Medina-Forrester, MPH, Coordinator, Hunterdon & Mercer Regional Chronic Disease Coalition.
